Read all about Greenwich Coalition for Equality & Human Rights (GCEHR)

GCEHR is set up in the Royal Borough of Greenwich with our overall aim to improve the quality of life of the residents by promoting equality and diversity by continuously providing support and services to the community in a variety of forms in order to meet the ever growing needs which are seriously hampered by the reduction in services due to government cuts and the closure of various community & voluntary groups.

Initially, the centre was managed by voluntary staff and the emphasis in the developmental years of the centre was on hate crime, victim support, racial discrimination, employment tribunal cases, creating awareness on various issues and lobbying. Now the centre is fully staff with one full time Manager, part-time coordinator. There is a pool of experienced and well-qualified tutors, caseworkers and volunteers. In order to achieve the aims the GCEHR the staff members have actively embarked on contacting, reaching, engaging and serving the community.

Our aim is to set up One-Stop Community Training and Services Hub in order to fill the gap in much needed services and provide help and support to all sections of the community particularly targeting the vulnerable elderly, frail and hard to reach members. In the coming months we intend to introduce many more innovative projects for the community. In keeping with our growth & expansion plan we have now moved into bigger and better premises. This will enable us to deliver our projects more effectively.

With Crossrail project, new Elizabeth line, new homes being built in the area attracting investment, we wish to make our centre a vibrant community hub for services and training to the residents in the borough. GCEHR has got the capacity, well established links, the resolve and support of the community.

Vision: The caring & welcoming Centre that is dedicated to promote equality and human rights by eliminating discrimination, advancing education, promoting community cohesion and continuously conducting research in order to achieve its aim among the diverse communities.

Mission Statement: To serve and support all sections of the community living in the Royal borough of Greenwich and in the neighbouring boroughs of Bexley and Lewisham by providing a variety of services and opportunities particularly targeting the hard to reach and isolated members of the community.
